The United States (US) Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance & Special Operations Forces (ISR & SOF) Directorate, Special Warfare (SW) Program Office (AFLCMC/WISN) is conducting market research to identify possible sources capable of providing a Special Warfare Tethered Communications Relay that will improve Special Warfare Operators’ overall communication during a range of mission sets. The Tethered Communication Relay will extend the range of line of sight (LOS) communications via payloads equipped with radio module(s) and antenna(s) for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET) and conventional radio frequency (RF) communications. Special Tactics operators will deploy the Tethered Communications Relay sUAS upon arrival at a terminal area selected for Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief (HADR) operations. The sUAS will fly for extended periods to allow 24 hour aircraft delivery of relief supplies and personnel while maintaining communications with other operational teams in the area (e.g. Pararescue). The item must support frequencies and waveforms compatible with the latest Harris and Trellisware radio capabilities. The sUAS needs to fly at altitudes of 50 m (164 ft) above ground level (AGL) or greater and should be able to fly continuously on long term electrical power sources (generators, shore power, etc.). The purpose of this SS/RFI is to assess the ability of suppliers to provide the desired capability. ** This Sources Sought is only for the purpose of identifying potential sources as part of AFLCMC/WIS market research. No Request for Quote (RFQ) or solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the RFQ/solicitation.** The entire Sources Sought/Request for Information notice is located in the attachments/ links section of this announcement.
