The following list is a subset of the requirements included in the AirSpace Ops Forensics on Carbon Black – Aethalometer Statement of Work. 1. Determine light absorption at seven visible and near infra-red wavelengths (e.g. 370, 470, 520, 590, 660, 880 and 950 nm) 2. Continuous, 24/7 operation (in all weather when enclosed in all weather climate controlled enclosure) 3. Capable of distinguishing aerosol origins/types (i.e. diesel fuels versus biomass burning) and relative proportion of each source 4. Capable of assessing mass concentration of carbon black 5. Black carbon detection range: at small as 0.01 grams per cc and as high as 100 grams per cc 6. Detection resolution of carbon black mass concentration: as low as 1 milligram per cc 7.
