The Government is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to build the universal trailers that are listed below: These multi-purpose trailers are primarily used during installation and removal of aircraft engines. The current trailers, (4000 AND 4100) engine trailers are used (in conjunction with the appropriate engine adapter) during the installation and removal of the F100 series aircraft engines from various aircraft. The current SPEC, MIL-PRF-32479A consolidates the requirements of both aircraft and missile engine lift trailers into one universal trailer with two different types: Both types are built to the military specification. The Air Force’s preference is to award a contract to manufacture exact replicas of the trailers that have been fielded, which was to be a complete fleet replacement, due to logistical issues surrounding fielding multiple variants. Currently, the Air Force does not possess a technical data package for the fielded trailers. There is potential for the Air Force to consider products built to the SPEC. If a new manufacturer is selected, a first article will be required along with new technical data. Please complete the attached Request for Information.
