The LRU-33/A is a 20 Person Multi-Place Life Raft (MPLR), NSN 4220-01-505-8727SO, P/N 65260-103, is designed and developed to comply with MIL-PRF-1894F (AS) to provide out-of-water support for up to 20 people forced to abandon aircraft at sea. Each SOF/PR C-130 type aircraft is equipped with up to four LRU-33/A life rafts to accommodate up to 80 people. Only currently approved source is the Original Equipment Manufacturer, Air Cruisers Company, LLC dba Safran. Air Cruisers Company, LLC dba Safran owns the data rights to the LRU-33/A life raft. Due to lack of technical data, full and open competition is not an option. Current need for operational components does not allow for unqualified sources to take the time necessary to reverse engineer each component in order to conduct a repair.
