The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s (AFLCMC/WNY) Electronic Warfare and Avionics Program Office is conducting market research to obtain responses from interested sources that can provide engineering support for the AN/ALQ-161A DAS sustainment update. The B-1 Band 8 Transmitter Capability is one of the Radio Frequency (RF) Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) jamming bands for the AN/ALQ-161A Radio Frequency Surveillance (RFS)/Electronic Countermeasures System (ECMS). This acquisition is for design, development, fabrication, qualification, test, delivery and fielding installation support of B-1 DAS prototype modification kits to fulfill AFGSC identified requirements to reactivate Band 8 Transmitter capability for the remaining fleet of aircraft. The original Band 8 Reactivation task required for was to equip 18 coded aircraft with a need date NLT Dec 2019. This was considered a stop-gap measure that was not sustainable in the long term. This effort, DAS Supportability Update is the long-term solution to Band 8 Reactivation. The desired Band 8 Mission Capability (MC) Rate must match requirements specified in Band 6 and 7 Mission Essential Subsystem List (MESL). The B-1 DAS prototype modification kit is currently identified as replacement of six (6) Shop Replaceable Units (SRUs) within two Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), the AMPLIFIER, RADIO FREQUENCY (BAND 8 DRIVER TRANSMITTER) AM-7196/ALQ-161A (PN 001-006812-011) LRU and the REPEATER, RADIO (BAND 8 REPEATER/RF SOURCE) RT-1431/ALQ-161A (PN 435029-12) with associated cabling, wiring, firmware and software changes.
