The purpose of this requirement is for the contractor to determine the meteorological Effective Vertical Resolution (EVR) of the Vaisala MW51 sounding system. The Contractor shall observe 30 weather balloon launches and analyze data provided by the Government and determine what the EVR of the Vaisala MW51 sounding system. The Eastern and Western Range are responsible for monitoring meteorological conditions prior to the launch of satellites, rockets, missiles, etc. The current system used by the range to determine the EVR prior to a launch is over 20 years old and is now obsolete. A new system, the Vaisala MW51 sounding system has replaced the old system and is nearing deployment. For the new system to be deployed, the EVR of the system must be determined so that accurate weather data can be provided prior to any launch occurring. The EVR data is required and provides a go/no-go to all launches occurring within the Eastern or Western Range. If interested or capable, please email Michael Checketts, michael.checketts@us.af.mil.
