The Government intends to award one contract action which is planned to include Mk21A Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD), with options for Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP,) Initial Full Rate Production (iFRP,) Full Rate Production (FRP) and system deployment. The EMD effort is planned to be a cost-plus-incentive-fee (CPIF) contract type and includes reentry vehicle (RV) design and development, flight testing, and RV integration with the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Weapon System (WS) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) W87-1 warhead. The LRIP, iFRP, and FRP lots are planned to be fixed price contract types (i.e. FFP, FPIF, etc.) and the requirements are operational testing, final qualification, production and deployment of the Mk21A on the GBSD WS.
