BACKGROUND: The T-41D is a commercial derivative aircraft (Cessna 172) acquired to support Air Education Training Command’s (AETC) United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) Airmanship Program. Currently, four T-41D aircraft are used to support the USAFA Flying Team, the Soaring Cross Country team, and Flight Test Course. The Flying Team competes in regional and national events against college teams throughout the United States. Additionally, the T-41D provides capability to carry passengers and perform key maneuvers that support the mission of both the soaring team and the flight test course. The T-51A is a commercial derivative aircraft (Cessna 150) acquired to support Air Education Training Command’s (AETC) United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) Airmanship Program. Currently, three T-51A aircraft are used to support the USAFA Flying Team. The Flying Team competes in regional and national events against college teams throughout the United States.
