This is a requirement to establish a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) for gunlocks for the suicide prevention and family/member safety program. The gunlocks are predominately cable gunlocks which fit a variety of weapon types as well as internal or integrated assemblies, the latter being somewhat more robust and generally require the destruction of the weapon to disable the lock. These are primarily intended for personnel whose duties in the Air Force or Space Force require the use of firearms and/or may be required to bring their weapon(s) home, e.g. security forces. The gunlocks must be listed on the California DOJ list of approved gunlocks or the Maryland Firearms Board Listing for Integrated Assemblies (internal gunlocks). These are regarded as the standard in the industry for gun safety. Approximately 200,000 gunlocks, the majority of which are cable locks, may be required per year, considering Air Force and Space Force member turnover during the five (5) year period of performance of the BPA. Given the continuing nature of the requirement, a follow on procurement is likely after the current BPA expires.
