SOURCES SOUGHT FROM: 10th Contracting Squadron, United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), CO SUBJECT: Sources Sought // FA700020Q0127 - Digital Focusing Schlieren (DFS) System 1. The USAF Academy 10th Contracting Squadron is requesting information from potential providers of a Digital Focusing Schlieren (DFS) System. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 334516 and the small business size standard in number of employees is 1,000. 2. Interested contractors whether potential prime contractors or interested potential subcontractors are encouraged to review the salient characteristics in paragraph 5 to gain an understanding of the requirement and provide feedback and questions to the Contracting Officer. 3. This notice is also issued for the purpose of market research in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 10. All responsible contractors interested in providing this product and who have the potential to provide this product are invited to respond. Any information provided by industry to the Government as a result of this notice is voluntary. Contractors must have a current registration with the System for Award Management (SAM) at http://sam.gov/. The Government bears no legal liability for any costs incurred by responding to this notice. This notice is for planning purposes only and the Government will not pay for any information provided. If you are not interested and/or able to provide this product no response is necessary. The result of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement. This sources sought announcement is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, implied or otherwise, to issue a solicitation or to award a contract. 4. The purpose of this notice is to identify capable and qualified companies to provide a Digital Focusing Schlieren (DFS) System with the stated specifications to the U.S. Air Force Academy. The Digital Focusing Schlieren (DFS) System must possess the following salient characteristics: Digital grid system, either projection-based or digital-display based Self-aligning Minimum field of view of 5”, preferred field of view of 8-10” Compatible with current Phantom v7 high-speed cameras in use Minimum 5,000 frames per second Minimum 1 ms exposure time Includes controllable LED light source (sync capable with TTL) Includes focusing schlieren optics Includes software 5. All businesses capable of providing a Digital Focusing Schlieren (DFS) System are invited to respond. Interested small business vendors must reference their 8(a), HUB Zone, Women-owned, or Service Disabled Veteran status, if applicable. A firm fixed price contract is anticipated to be awarded.
