DESCRIPTION. 420nm Laser System The US Air Force Academy has a requirement to purchase a 420nm Laser System. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is issued as a Request for Quotations (RFQ) under solicitation number FA700020Q0072 in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) part 12 and FAR part 13. This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2020-06, effective 06 May 2020. SOURCES SOUGHT FROM: 10th Contracting Squadron, United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), CO SUBJECT: Sources Sought 1. The USAF Academy 10th Contracting Squadron is requesting information from potential providers of a 420nm Laser System used to measure neutral rubidium atom densities in a diode pumped alkali laser. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 334516 and the small business size standard in number of employees is 1,000. 2. Interested contractors whether potential prime contractors or interested potential subcontractors are encouraged to review the salient characteristics in paragraph 4 to gain an understanding of the requirement and provide feedback and questions to the contracting specialist. 3. This notice is issued for the purpose of market research in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 10. All responsible contractors interested in providing this product and who have the potential to provide this product are invited to respond. Any information provided by industry to the Government as a result of this notice is voluntary. This notice is for planning purposes only and the Government will not pay for any information provided. The result of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement. Center wavelength of 421.5 nm Course tuning range to include 420-423 nm Output power >70 milli Watts Linewidth <150 kHz (5 usec) Mode-hop free tuning range > at least 20 GHz 35 dB optical isolator Laser current and frequency control electronics included, including capabilities for frequency scanning, adjustable modulation frequency, signal display, power stabilization, lock-in signal generation, frequency locking and relock, able to use external reference signal for locking. Frequency control must support top-of-fringe locking Laser frequency control electronics must also interface via USB or TCP/IP for remote control as well as locally via GUI on controller Fiber optics launch system and patch cord 6.
