Contract FA527024P0014 and FA527024P0016 were both written in support of the CV-22 crash off the coast of Japan. The U.S. vessel which was previously being used broke and went out of commision, requiring a contracted solution to continue operations. Due to the time sensitivity of search and recovery operations, an unusual and compelling requirement, IAW FAR 13.5, resulted from the U.S. ship no longer being available.
