Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB) requires the replacement of various air switches on feeders SW-94-2, SW-94-3 and SW-94-4 to provide adequate and functional switchgears for electrical distribution to various facilities and the safety of utility maintenance personnel. AAFB's current switches are exhibiting signs of severe corrosion from a combination of high humidity and salt air environment that are no longer safe for operation. With continuous deterioration, the switch performance will be increasingly unreliable and dangerous to operating personnel, especially in inclement weather conditions. Not replacing the switches would render AAFB incapable of a reliable power supply resulting in more unscheduled outages. Delivery and installation require a performance period of 330 calendar days. The contracting agency does not see any risk factors as market research, through PTAC, confirmed, by a SAM search, a reasonable expectation of successful competition among the available HUBZone certified sources.
