The project covers fabrication and erection of new blast deflector fences for B1-B aircraft, using curved, non-perforated, galvanized corrugated steel (Lynnco Type GS-20-2 or approved alternate) designed to withstand B1-B afterburner conditions of about 30,000 lbs thrust at minimum 90 feet, approximately 1400°F, and 900 mph. The blast fence must be furnished and installed by an experienced blast-fence manufacturer/contractor, anchored to existing concrete at least 16 inches thick with epoxy-locked anchors, and assembled only by bolting with specified galvanized or cadmium-plated hardware. Work includes material submittals on AF Form 3000, maintaining a fenced and clean laydown yard, restoring the area, and painting/marking aircraft parking position numbers plus a 2'x2' sign on the deflectors. Alternatives may be considered by the Contracting Officer only with approval and extensive full-scale test, smoke-pot, two-year field-service, and design-analysis data; concrete and perforated deflecting surfaces are not acceptable. Performance is in a restricted area with access required via Tye Gate and an approved haul route, and the contractor must submit a two-week work schedule to the Escort POC at least one week before work starts.
