PURPOSE: The purpose of the sources sought is to identify available authorized businesses to provide the required product or an "or equal" product. This sources sought notice is for informational and planning purposes only. Pricing information is not being requested at this time. It does not constitute a solicitation and is not to be considered as a commitment by the Government. REQUIREMENT: This notice is issued by the U.S. Air Force, 92d Contracting Squadron, Fairchild AFB, WA. This sources sought is seeking to identify responsible potential sources to provide one (1) laser cutter for the purpose of cutting various densities of foam for tool inlays in tool kits. It is currently believed that the only product capable of meeting this requirement is a Kern High Speed Engraving (HSE) Laser System. Salient characteristics are as follows: • Cutting table able to accommodate items up to and including 50" by 100" • Laser capable of cutting up to 3" foam • Laser capable of engraving various material (cloth, metals, plastics, and composites) • Includes integrated software/hardware that has the capability of transferring scaled silhouette photographs to cutting software for accurate cutting of shapes such as tool cutouts • Includes light panel box for tool silhouetting and digital camera for capturing high quality silhouetted images • Includes all hardware and software to provide a turnkey cutting and engraving system • Includes durable, high performance computer that is able to run associated CorelDraw or equivalent software and interface with laser cutting system • Integrated, self-contained fume extraction system (does not require modification to real property) • Must include on-site, post-delivery training on use and routine maintenance • Must include laser safety kit to protect workers and nearby personnel from class 4 laser hazards • Cutting table to accommodate access and manipulation of material from all sides of machine • System must be equipped with emergency stop switches accessible from all sides ANTICIPATED NAICS/SIZE STANDARD: This requirement falls under the NAICS Code of 333515, Cutting Tool and Machine Tool Accessory Manufacturing, with a size standard of 500 EMP. SUBMISSION OF INFORMATION: All firms responding to this sources sought notice are advised that their response to this notice is not a request that will be considered for contract award. All interested parties will be required to respond to the resultant solicitation separately from their response to this sources sought notice. A responsible potential sources shall have registered with the System for Award Management (SAM).
