The 60th Contracting Squadron at Travis Air Force Base, CA 94535 has awarded a sole-source contract to Boston Scientific Corp. under the authority of FAR 6.305. The contract is for the FDA-approved TheraSphere product, a liver cancer therapy consisting of small glass microspheres containing radioactive Yttrium-90 (Y90). TheraSphere is the only FDA-approved treatment for primary liver cancer and is indicated for use in radiation treatment or as a neoadjuvant to surgery or transplantation in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The contract was awarded to support the treatment of liver cancer patients within the Regional Health Command Central (RHC-C).
