Laughlin AFB's 47th Security Forces Squadron required a tethered unmanned aerial system (tUAS) that has vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities using a multi-rotor small unmanned aerial system (sUAS) powered from the ground using a thin tether. No radio frequency (RF) emission, and all command and control payload data over secure tether. The UAS has Electro-Optical (EO)/Infra-Red (IR) thermal, fully-stabilized. Has a max altitude of 200 feet, which will allow operation while not interrupting the wing's flying operations. HoverFly Technologies, Inc. is the only tUAS listed in an Air Force memorandum dated 13 May 2021, "USAF Non-Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)" allowed for purchase by the Air Force.
