JBSA Fire Department is mandated to store their Firefighting PPE in a certain climate and storage area. We are now newly required to have stock with our sizes readily available. We have run out of space and now need the Space saver storage system installed in our facility. We need a movable type shelving system for the storage of firefighting personal protective equipment and inventory items. The storage system must fit a space 15 feet 4 inches by 16 feet and not greater than 94.5 inches with the ability to maximize the storage capability. The system must have the ability to have movable aisles to reduce the unusable space. The storage system must have the capability of having both hanging rack space for coats and pants, as well as storage bins and shelving of multiple configurations and sizes. For specific compartment sizing and configuration requirements, refer to Storage System Plan Attachment. In the Storage System Plan Attachment, the left side of the page is an overhead view of the floor plan and on the right side of the page there is a “from the side view” of each storage unit with specific measurements. Each of these storage units are lettered and correspond with the floor plan in size and lettering. Hanging garment rails should be placed 3 inches from the top of the compartment to maximize garment hanging space. The system must have solid external surfaces to prevent damage to the stored items by UV and fluorescent lighting. This system must also be able to be locked when not in use. The storage system track must be anchored to the facility’s floor and include an anti-tip feature to ensure safety and stability. The provider of the storage system must complete all setup, assembly and installation associated with the storage system.
