The 81st Contracting Squadron is requesting the assistance of a subject matter expert to provide any information available for the following requirement: The 81st Training Wing Chaplain Corps seeks a full time handler equipped with their own certified therapy dog that is willing to visit various areas around Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi as a means of stress relief for Airmen around Keesler and in training. Handler's working hours will be 40 hours per week (10-20 for the dog's interaction per week). The handler will be expected to prepare reports detailing places visited, and create metrics that measure the effectiveness of their visits in certain locations/environments. A computer and access will be provided by the Chaplain Corps during the specified duty hours. The handler must be familiar with military life and personnel as the majority of effort will be on a military installation and all interactions will be with military personnel. A draft performance work statement will be posted when it has been prepared; however, the assistance of a subject matter expert will ensure the draft PWS contains all required elements to make this position/effort a success. Any vendors who have information regarding subject matter experts in dog handling or therapy dogs, are asked to contact the POC ASAP. This requirement will be the first in DoD; therefore, any shared industry information would be very useful.
