OMAX-80 programs that were on engineering computers are still available for use. Those programs can only run directly on an Omax machine. Other machines can use engineering drawings or DXF files to “re-engineer” the part but that assumes drawings and DXF files are available. This is generally NOT the case with water jet parts. They are often engineered on the machine and the programs saved to a computer. These would be machine program files and NOT part geometry files. 2) This Omax machine has a rotary option that is fully integrated into the machine control. Only Omax has the 9th axis control board that enables a fully integrated rotary axis with the machine control. The Omax control is also the only water jet manufacturer that contains a complete parametric shape library for Standard Tube and Pipe cutting shapes that are commonly cut on a rotary axis. This allows quick programming, at the machine, for creating and cutting tube shapes. 3) The machine operator already know how to run the Omax machine. It is true that other manufacturers can provide training with the installation however that will fall far short of getting an operator sufficient at making parts. Installation training covers the concepts to run the machine and DOES NOT cover applications training. Learning how to cut a variety of shapes and materials takes many months, even years to be proficient. Other brands would have to provide an applications Tech (not operation) for a minimum of 6 months working dealing with your people. This would prove dysfunctional because the water jet is not used every day, all dy. Making the case even stronger for a Brand Sole Source. 4) Expandable future capability. The OMAX system is the only system capable of adding another cutting bridge without having to expand the operating system. This means that two completely different parts can be cut simultaneously from a single operating system. With other systems' cutting two different parts simultaneously would require two entirely complete machines (full set up).
