FAR 6.302-1 Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements will be used as the justification for a sole source purchase. 86 SFS has an existing Vindicator Alarm System that the new badging system must tie into. The Vindicator Badge Manager 3 is the only system available that can tie into the preexisting system. Compatibility with the existing alarm system is necessary because the system can provide access log, entry and exit timelines along with several other beneficial features. Purchasing a completely new system would not be practical and would cost the Government hundreds of thousands of dollars as well as additional time to replace and train users on the new system.
