The requirement will deter birds from landing and nesting the ceiling or support beams of the facility and will prevent the buildup of excrement and other health hazards resulting from nesting birds. In the event this requirement is not fulfilled, due to the location and accessibility of birds, the area would quickly become unsanitary and would result in quicker degradation of equipment as well as increase the possibility of health issues to the users.
