Helpful Airborne Wireless Communication Ecosystem Yielding Enhanced Sharing (HAWCEYES)
The 418th Flight Test Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base, CA, seeks a contractor to design and build a self-contained, portable wireless communications network that can be carried on/off aircraft and connect test team members. The system must use existing Wi-Fi/Bluetooth protocols, have a minimum 30-meter range, be self-powered for at least 30 minutes, and support a minimum of 32 connected devices via commercial VOIP software. It must also receive audio from the aircraft’s existing intercom system via a U-174 connector and retransmit it to wirelessly connected devices. Delivery of two copies to Edwards AFB is required within 180 days after receipt of order, with the contractor retaining the ability to build future copies. This is a total small business set-aside under NAICS 334220, and the contractor must provide all hardware and software design specifications to support airworthiness and cybersecurity approvals.
