The Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) is the Navy’s experts in the development, performance, and characterization of high temperature superconducting (HTS) advanced degaussing (ADG) equipment. Currently, the LPD 28 and LPD 29 HTS ADG systems are being procured via separate NSWCPD contracts. The LPD 28 degaussing system is the first of its kind in the fleet; the system will also be installed on LPD 30 and 31 in the future. NSWCPD is seeking to ascertain the capabilities and abilities of industry to provide specific HTS ADG components that will be fully performance-representative of the components installed on LPD 28 and LPD 29.
