Atomically Precise Molecules (APM)
DARPA seeks innovative proposals for new synthesis techniques in polymeric and nonlinear optical (NLO) materials. Research should pursue revolutionary advances in material synthesis that can scale to quantities relevant for application integration. The effort should culminate in a prototype demonstration of a revolutionary NLO material integrated into a functional government-provided electro-optic modulator. Proposals focused on evolutionary improvements, solely inorganic materials without a polymeric component, or incremental modifications/repurposing of existing NLO materials are excluded.
