The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is offering for sale three (3) items of standing timber on approximately 304 acres within four (4) separate blocks at Fort Pickett Military Installation, Nottoway County, Virginia of which approximately the following volumes to be harvested: These sales are sold per Item by unit, harvested timber will be sold by being scaled at the receiving mill by WEIGHT by the ton. Item 1: Even-Aged Clearcut 1 BLOCK ”A” (44 ACRES) PINE SAWTIMBER -- 2605 TONS PINE CHIP N SAW – 1162 TONS PINE PULPWOOD – 2574 TONS OAK SAWTIMBER – 75 TONS POPLAR SAWTIMBER – 128 TONS MISC. HARDWOOD SAWTIMBER – 13 TONS HARDWOOD PULPWOOD – 546 TONS CHIPS (CHIPWOOD) – 0 TONS (MUST SUBMIT A PER UNIT BID TO BE ABLE TO CHIP) Item 2: Even-Aged Clearcut 1 BLOCK ”B” (200 ACRES) PINE SAWTIMBER -- 6931 TONS PINE CHIP N SAW – 3406 TONS PINE PULPWOOD – 9190 TONS OAK SAWTIMBER – 260 TONS POPLAR SAWTIMBER – 234 TONS MISC. HARDWOOD SAWTIMBER – 420 TONS HARDWOOD PULPWOOD – 1311 TONS CHIPS (CHIPWOOD) – 0 TONS (MUST SUBMIT A PER UNIT BID TO BE ABLE TO CHIP) Contract Period of Performance: *Purchaser (s) will be issued a time restricted contract from date of sale with special terms as follow. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has listed the Northern Long- Eared Bat Myotis septentrionalis as endangered under the Endangered Species Act. All tree felling operations are restricted by federal law and must be completed by 31 May 2021. There will be no exception or extensions to this contract to allow for additional tree felling time. Item # one (1) Block A clearcut harvest – All tree felling shall be complete by 31 May 2021; tree skidding, processing, and hauling as well as all site repair work, if any as directed must be complete 31 July 2021. Item # two (2) Block B clearcut harvest – All tree felling shall be complete by 31 May 2021; tree skidding, processing, and hauling as well as all site repair work, if any as directed must be complete 31 July 2021. Item # three (3) Block C & D clearcut harvests – All tree felling shall be complete by 31 May 2021; tree skidding, processing, and hauling as well as all site repair work, if any as directed must be complete 31 July 2021. INSPECTION INVITED ON FRIDAY 9 October 2020 BEGINNING AT 9:00 a.m. ALL AVAILABLE ITEMS WILL BE SHOWN ON THE ABOVE DAY. Sealed bids will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. Thursday October 22, 2020 by the Acquisition, Management, and disposal section, real estate office, 803 Front Street, Norfolk, VA, and then opened publicly. All sale areas are outside of streamside management zones. All timber for harvest is designated standing timber contained within the defined sale area boundaries. Harvest operations and associated work shall comply with the State of Virginia Forestry Best Management Practices for Water Quality. No trees will be harvested within the SMZs. Standing timber herein is located within training areas are of low military use areas, all indications are that metal contamination will be negligible, if any.
