Specimens are stored in refrigerators while awaiting analysis and in freezers for long term archival storage. Additionally, reagents used in the scientific analysis of specimens are stored in refrigerators and freezers. NAMRU-6 maintains laboratory spaces in Lima and in Iquitos. As old equipment passes its serviceable lifetime, it must be replaced. The refrigerators and one freezer requested herein will replace existing equipment that is old, broken, or otherwise unsuitable for the task. Additionally, incubators are used for the culture of bacteria in the laboratory. The existing incubator in Iquitos is in need of replacement, as well. The ultra-low freezer for Iquitos is the only new piece of equipment as the lab there has a new need for an ultra-low freezer for sample storage. NAMRU-6 needs one pharmaceutical grade refrigerator in Lima to replace a non-pharmaceutical grade model. NAMRU-6 also needs a pharmaceutical grade refrigerator, freezer and incubator in Iquitos to replace existing units. A new ultralow freezer is needed in Iquitos for sample storage. All pieces of equipment must be of laboratory and/or pharmaceutical grade, and not intended for household use.
