Agency DEPT OF DEFENSE Sub-tier DEPT OF THE NAVY Major Command NAVSEA Sub Command NAVSEA WARFARE CENTER Office NSWC PHILADELPHIA DIV Description The Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) Philadelphia, PA, intends to award an Indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) contract lines items (CLINs) on a sole source basis to RENK AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT (RENK AG) for system repairs and design agent engineering services in support of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class. The proposed contract is engineering services to the Main Reduction Gear (MRG) System and associated equipment including the gear control unit, clutches, clutch control system, the lubrication oil system, bearings and seals. The engineering support covered by the proposed IDIA contract will be in support of maintaining and improving the operational readiness, safety, reliability and maintainability, as well as operating and support costs of the RENK products and associated equipment on the LCS class. It is necessary to maintain adequate and effective operational readiness, safety and mission effectiveness of the MRG systems. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), “Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements,” as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 6.302 1. Interested parties, however; may identify their interest and capability by responding to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and does not constitute a solicitation. The Government will consider all information received prior to the closing date of this synopsis. Information received will normally be considered solely for determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The applicable North American Industry Classifications System (NAICS) Code for this procurement is 541330. The Product Service Code (PSC) for this effort is R425.
