This justification is notification of the urgent contract award for helicopter cargo netting repairs on the USS NITZE (DDG-94). The reason for this urgent procurement request is due to a failed flight deck inspection. The findings of the inspection decertified the flight deck for any air operations because of the poor state of the flight deck nets. Decertifying the flight deck operations compromises one the ship’s major mission areas. Since the ship will be in a CMAV availability state for only a limited amount of time, and because it will take several weeks for the netting to be repaired, the urgency of this of procurement was justified.
