The U.S. Space Force, Space Systems Command (SSC) Wide Field of View (WFOV) Program Office, Boulder Ground Innovation Facility, Colorado, is conducting market research for on-orbit R&D support to the WFOV Testbed Wide-Area Six Degree Payload (WASP), with an intent to sole-source to L3-Harris while seeking capable vendors to inform a competitive acquisition strategy. The effort requires familiarity with a proprietary L3 Technologies wide-field-of-view staring OPIR refractive telescope, an L3-Cincinnati Electronics focal plane array and cryocooler, custom electronics boxes/software, FPGAs, and a Millennium Space Systems spacecraft in geostationary orbit with a Ka-band downlink.
