The United States Air Force, 502d Contracting Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio - Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas is seeking potential sources to provide an Equine Herd Manager and an Equine Trainer from businesses that participate in the Section 8(a) Business Development Program. This Sources Sought Synopsis is published for market research purposes only to identify contractors that are capable of providing all items/services listed. A brief overview of the requirement is are as follows: •· Equine Herd Manager is responsible for ensuring the overall day-to-day health, wellbeing and maintenance of all US Army equine assets assigned to the Fort Sam Houston Caisson Section (Stables) and collocated pasture areas. The Herd Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring that equine assets (herd size may range from 1-20 horses) are physically healthy, trained and available to support the US Army North Caisson mission. •· Equine Trainer will work closely with the Equime Herd Manager and horses (herd size may range from 1-20 horses) to prepare them for riders, ground work and breaking horses for hitch training. Trainer will be responsible for ensuring horses adapt to wearing saddles and bridles, teach vital riding commands and work with the animals to correct behavioral issues. Equine trainers are required to have expert riding skills and a thorough knowledge of horse management. Patience and a love of animals is also extremely beneficial. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 115210 - Support Activities for Animal Production, with a size standard of $7.5 million dollars. All prospective contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) database to be awarded a DoD contract. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION.
