The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) intends to solicit, negotiate, and award a sole source Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) type contract for AMPEX Flight Recorder Systems, repair services, and spare parts for the MH-60R and MH-60S programs located at Squadron HX21, Patuxent River, MD. These recorders are maintained and installed on the aircraft as needed by NAVAIR’s Prototype, Instrumentation, and Experimentation Division (PIE). While these are Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) items, Ampex Corporation is the sole provider of the flight recorder equipment and no other vendors are authorized as resellers or to provide repairs to the proprietary equipment purchased from Ampex. These AMPEX Flight Data Recorder Systems are currently utilized at Squadron HX21 and are installed on the MH-60R/S assets. The Flight Data Recorders and Spare Parts being acquired under this contract must be compatible with existing equipment and systems to ensure there is no disruptions to current data flow between the aircrafts and ground systems. Therefore, the Government intends to award this requirement on a sole source basis to AMPEX Data Systems Corporation, 26460 Corporate Ave, Hayward, CA 94545 under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The estimated period of performance will consist of three (3) years commencing approximately 1 September 2022. 95% of the work will be performed at the contractor facility. 5% of the work will be performed at Patuxent River, MD. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. This Sources Sought is not a request for a proposal; although, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement which shall be considered by the agency.
