The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Office of Marine and Aviation Operations/Marine Operations Center - Atlantic requires two RESON SVP70 sound speed sensors for use with Thomas Jefferson’s EM2040 multibeam systems. These sensors are used to acquire surface sound speed critical to multibeam surveys. Thomas Jefferson currently owns three of these instruments which regularly need to be returned to the manufacturer for calibration and certification. Having an additional two units would prevent loss of operational capabilities due to malfunctions or delays in return of equipment.
