Combined Sources Sought Notice and Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Contract for X-ray Computed Tomography Microscope
NIST is conducting market research to identify alternative sources for a new X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) microscope for its Precision Imaging Facility, with a possible sole-source award to Carl Zeiss Microscopy if no other capable sources are found. The microscope must meet extensive technical requirements, including 450 nm or better ultimate resolution, 40 nm or smaller voxel size, a sealed tube X-ray source from 30-160 kV, a specimen stage with specified travel and 25 kg capacity, specific optics and detectors, AI/ML-integrated software, and a one-year warranty. The equipment will be used for three-dimensional imaging and characterization of semiconductor materials and devices, and must produce data compatible with NIST's existing Zeiss Versa XRM 500 system. The contractor must provide on-site training for NIST staff at the NIST Boulder campus located at 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80305, plus remote support and manuals. Interested parties are asked to submit company details, product specifications, pricing, and feedback on the draft requirements to help NIST decide whether to pursue a competitive acquisition.
