The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Fabrication Technology Office (FTO), intends to repair a Doosan DBC 250l milling and engraving machine on a sole source basis to Ellison Technologies under the authority of FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b), Soliciting from a Single Source. FTO’s primary line of service is metal fabrication, mechanical engineering, and electromechanical assembly. This service is used to engineer and fabricate high precision components and assemblies for use in one-of-a-kind measurement instruments conceived by NIST scientists and engineers. FTO depends on its installed base of manufacturing technology to support the many services needs of its customers. This manufacturing technology base includes a full family of automated and conventional milling machines, lathes, grinders, electrical discharge machines, boring mills, and other related manufacturing equipment. FTO requires repairs and realignment of our Doosan DBC 250L milling and engraving machine. Currently this milling machine is unable to run as the machine’s spindle will not rotate freely as driven. This machine will require a Doosan certified technician to disassemble, evaluate, repair, realign, and reassemble the milling machine to correct the machine’s operational problems and bring return the machine back to manufacture’s specifications. Interested parties that believe they could satisfy the requirements listed above for the repair of the Doosan milling and engraving machine shall clearly identify their capability to do so in writing on or before July 13, 2022 at 12:00 pm Eastern time. This notice of intent is not a solicitation. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether competitive procedures could be used for this acquisition.
