1/25/2021 – Amendment is issued to solicitation NFFR7500-21-00550KF4 to provide vendor Questions and Answers as shown below. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged. Q1: Do we need to include any disposal of chemicals and/or waste currently inside the sheds? (e.g. expired, damaged container, missing lid, etc.) or do all chemicals would be transferred into the new sheds? A: No, no chemical disposal would be required besides the firefighting agent in the fixed suppression system and any waste generated by the decontamination process. Q2: Do you require replacing the sheds with exactly the same size units? (e.g. can we provide a quote with similar or approximate size to existing?) Note that custom-build buildings would be more expensive and may take longer to manufacture. A: There can be slight variation in size, but the replacements should fit on the existing concrete pad. A like for like replacement would work best. Any alternate sizes should be specifically checked for fitment. Q3: Can you provide the brand name or manufacturer of the existing units? A: Safety Storage Inc. Q4: Are the new sheds to be installed in the exact same location as the current old sheds? A: Yes. Q5: Has it been determined that the existing base/foundation would need any repairs prior to installing the new units? A: No repairs needed to the concrete foundations. Seismic bracing may be suggested from the manufacture for any sheds above 4 feet in California. Please follow all manufacturers suggestion for installation. Q6: How are the current sheds secured to the ground? (e.g. bolted, nailed, or just secured by weight) A: The current structures are secured by weight. However, both replacements should be bolted and seismically braced if recommended by the manufacturer. Q7: Would you be able to provide a temporary onsite storage for the chemicals and waste currently in the sheds? (required if the new sheds would be placed in the exact same location as the old units). A: We will be able to find an alternative location for the chemicals while the sheds are being removed/installed. Q8: Are we supposed to put back the chemicals/waste in the new units after installation? (or would you take care of that at a later time?) A: No, we will remove the chemicals from the old units and move them into the new units after instillation and arming of the fire suppression system. Q9: Are we allowed to cut the old sheds in smaller pieces onsite? (e.g. on an exterior area, away from vehicles and buildings, using an electrical saw cutter) A: We prefer the units are hauled away on a trailer. However, if a thorough plan is presented for cutting and hauling the sheds away we can make a decision once the plan is reviewed from a Facility/Safety standpoint. OSHA, CAL OSHA, and NFPA standards will have to be demonstrated prior. Q10: Will you provide access to water and electrical outlets (110 V)? A: Yes. Q11: Would you allow use of restrooms to our personnel during field activities? A: Yes. Following all site specific COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines. Q12: Can we bring a roll off containers for metal scrap? (provided we can cut the old sheds in pieces onsite). A: Yes. Q13: Is there enough clearance in the area where the existing sheds are to allow the use of a crane for both the removal and the installation of the sheds? A: Yes. Q14: Is the June 1, 2021 a firm maximum date for completion of all activities? Or is there flexibility for the completion of the project? (Note that the new units may not be ready on time) A: The Contract officials have set this timeline for completion. We would hope to meet the deadlines, but we will ask about an extension to the deadline if absolutely necessary. Q15: Do you require a California state approval? If not, do you require a professional engineered stamped set of drawings. A: We do not require CA state approval or professional engineered stamped drawings. Q16: Do any of these units require a fire rating (2-hour or 4-hour)? A: These structures MUST follow NFPA requirements for Chemical/Hazardous Materials storage. Specifically, NFPA 30 and NFPA 17. This includes a minimum of 2-hour fire rating. Q17: Any heating or cooling required in either? A: No Q18: Do you require ramps for these entrances? A: No
