The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), in support of the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC), is conducting market research to identify prospective vendors capable of supplying custom alkaline battery packs for the Deep-ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunamis (DART®) system. These battery packs are critical for powering systems both at sea level and in the ocean floor bottom pressure recorder (BPR), playing a vital role in our tsunami detection efforts.
