NOAA intends to award a sole-source base plus four option year purchase order to GRAW Radiosondes GmbH & Co. KG for software support services for existing GRAW Radiosondes at the National Weather Service Program Management Office in Silver Spring, MD. GRAW is considered the only source capable of modifying the proprietary source code and integrating with existing MROS ground station hardware, since no other commercial software can process DFM-17 telemetry formats. A disruption in support would prevent 55 sites from launching radiosondes, causing loss of critical atmospheric data for tracking hurricanes and severe weather.
