Upgrade of the Cold Neutron Imaging Instrument, Phase Grating Roll Alignment System
The NIST neutron imaging team requires three high-precision rotation stages (resolution better than 0.00005 degrees) with a clear aperture for a far-field grating neutron interferometer. The stages must support 100 mm diameter silicon wafer gratings (each ~100 g with holder) and enable full 360° rotation with low mass—each roll stage must be under 1 kg. The system must allow vertical translation and grating separation ranging from 1 mm to 300 mm, with a third grating up to 5 meters away. The procurement includes the stages, cabling, control hardware, and control software. No budget, submission timelines, or performance location are specified.
