The Biomolecular Measurement Division (BMD) of the Material Measurement Laboratory at NIST provides measurement science, reference materials, reference data, and technologies to advance biotechnology, DNA forensics, biomedical research, and healthcare. It supports NIST’s mission by supplying essential biological starting materials for forensic DNA testing, Standard Reference Material production, inter-laboratory studies, and publication of allele frequencies.
