Light Obscuration Instrument
The Bioprocess Measurements Group at NIST in Gaithersburg, MD requires an updated flow imaging instrument with light obscuration capabilities. This new system would replace two outdated, unsupported instruments currently used for characterizing biologically or synthetically derived particles in biomanufacturing. The need stems from industry reliance on these methods for regulatory compliance, while the existing equipment no longer reflects modern industry standards. This limits data comparability and collaboration with industry partners. The update is needed to maintain measurement science and standards relevant to current biomanufacturing practices.
