NIST operates a Central Utility Plant (CUP) to deliver several site-wide utility services to the campus buildings. Loss of the capability to provide these services to the NIST Campus jeopardizes the national mission NIST is tasked with. Generally, most boiler repairs, piping, and associated repairs within the NIST CUP involve American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) certified welding, and a R-Stamp from the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI). The “R” stamp is also required for boiler shell and internal repair. NIST is seeking a boiler repair and welding contractor to perform “R” code boiler repair and mobile welding operations on a 24/7/365 basis for urgent CUP repairs and limited other repairs in site steam manholes and other spaces on a as needed basis.
