NOTICE OF AWARD OF A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT. Under the authority of FAR 13.501(a), 41 U.S.C.1901), the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Acquisition and Grants Office (AGO), Western Acquisition Division (WAD), and National Weather Service (NWS), Analyze, Forecast and Support Office (AFSO), Fire Weather Program awarded a sole source Firm-Fixed Price contract to GRAW Radiosondes GMBH & CO, KG (hereafter referred to as GRAW). The Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Acquisition and Grants Office (AGO), Western Acquisition Division (WAD), and National Weather Service (NWS), Analyze, Forecast and Support Office (AFSO), Fire Weather Program have a requirement for GRAW portable upper air systems components. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements in accordance with FAR 13.501(a). The need for GRAW portable upper air systems components is due to compatibility to existing GRAW systems and equipment already used at NOAA. A determination not to compete this proposed short-term contract was based on market research and is solely within the discretion of the government. As evidenced in the sole source justification, there is only one contractor that could deliver the equipment required for this contract without unacceptable delays. Proposals ARE NOT being requested and a written solicitation WILL NOT be issued.
