NOAA requires up to six (6) licensed Marine Engineers at any one time for shipboard assignments. These Marine Engineers may be assigned to any class of NOAA ship at the offered rate. The Marine Engineers will be used to backfill NOAA employees absent from the ship, to assist in port with routine maintenance and repairs, and at sea to fulfill critical staffing requirements. The contracted Marine Engineers shall not be covered under the terms of NOAA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) or Contractor’s CBA. Assignments may be for varying lengths of time generally from one week to 90 days either while in port or at sea conducting the vessel’s mission. There is no guarantee of assignment to any particular vessel or geographic location. Vessel homeports include: Norfolk, VA; Charleston, SC; Pascagoula, MS; Newport, OR; Newport, RI; Kodiak, AK; Ketchikan, AK; San Diego, CA; Honolulu, HI; New Castle, NH.
