The USNPRC, SEPRL intends to purchase a Mantis Low Dead Volume Liquid Dispenser from Formulatrix, 10 DeAngelo Drive, Bedford, MA 01730, USA to be used as liquid handling robot for the efficient and accurate preparation of reverse transcriptase-PCR reactions. Current real-time PCR equipment used in the laboratory uses a 96 well plate, and the device needs to accurately dispense small volumes of liquid (0.5 ul to 25 ul) in each well of the plate. The samples need to be quickly applied to all wells to minimize reagent loss or reduction in activity because of temperature gains. The specifications are for minimal loss of reagents through dead space of 8 ul or less. The ability to quickly alter the volume of reagents dispensed and the order they are dispensed through a computer based programming system that allows storage of programs is required. To assure that reagents remain uncontaminated, the unit needs to be small enough to be housed in clean PCR cabinet (24 inches wide by 18 inches deep) that is already available in the laboratory. The dispensing units should be reusuable to reduce operation costs and maintain high precision of less than 5% variability. The government anticipates award of a contract resulting from this solicitation to the responsible offeror whose offer conforming to the specifications will be most advantageous to the Government. PAYMENT: Any award made under this solicitation is subject to 31 CFR Part 208 which requires all payments made by the government to be made by electronic funds transfer.
