The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ), Fruit Fly Rearing Facility, in Edinburg, TX, has a need for an Indefinite Quantity/Indefinite Delivery contract to supply Cuelure Plugs in accordance with specifications for a period not to exceed five years. The use of Cuelure is necessary when trapping exotic fruit flies. The offered products must be able to be accommodated in a Jackson Trap. Solid Cue Lure (CL) dispensers are used to capture certain species of exotic fruit flies of concern to U.S. agriculture. The Cue Lure dispenser is a primary surveillance tool used to detect new entries of Cue Lure-responding flies, such as Queensland fruit fly (Qfly, Bactrocera tryoni), Zeugodacus tau, and melon fly (Z. cucurbitae) and to delimit transient introduced populations of these species. Without these Cue Lure dispensers, early detection and efficient delimitation of introduced fruit fly populations may not be possible, prolonging the successful eradication of infestations and resulting in increased costs to USDA, State cooperators and producers of host commodities.
