The electronic power components are required to maintain and operate the Government’s (NRCS Snow Survey and Water Supply Forecasting Program) SNOTEL system and specific operational requirements for remote, long-term data collection of hydrometeorological data. The electronic power components must be compatible with existing infrastructure and meet the standards and specifications stated in the NRCS General Manual. Use of other vendor equipment would result in significant reconfiguration of systems, reduced reliability, and shortened component life spans, all of which would contribute to a significant increase in price and time spent performing preventative maintenance and power system troubleshooting.
