Notice of Intent to Sole Source: The USDA intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Thermo Electron Maintenance Agreement for orbitrap Lumos Fusion IC ready serial number FSN20134 for a base plus 4 Option Periods. The purpose of this contract is to secure Thermo Electron Maintenance Agreement for orbitrap Lumos Fusion IC ready serial number FSN20134 for a base plus 4 Option Periods. The Thermo Orbitrap Lumos Fusion mass spectrometer is protected by patent and is only made and sold by Thermo Fisher Scientific. Thermo Fisher Scientific is the sole source equipment manufacturer and service provider for all Thermo Fisher Scientific instruments, parts, training, technical support, field service support, and software. Thermo Fisher Scientific has proprietary rights to the design and software utilized in this instrument. Thermo Fisher Scientific is the only company with access to performance verified component parts, spare parts, software, technical support, upgrades and engineering resources to maintain the original operating specifications for the Orbitrap Lumos Fusion instrument. Thermo Fisher Scientific Field Service Engineers are certified, and factory trained and updated, and are part of an organization that is ISO certified. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1).
