This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; Quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will be issued. The solicitation number is 2020-SS26. THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY, 2020-SS26 and a SOLICITATION IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE The United States Department of Agriculture, APHIS is issuing this sources sought synopsis as a means of conducting market research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to support this requirement for: CALIPERS The result of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to this procurement is 326199. Calipers to measure skin thickness are required for the comparative cervical skin test. Because the skin is pliable, the caliper jaws must be thicker than a typical Vernier caliper for accuracy and therefore must be custom made. SPECIFICATIONS FOR USDA APHIS VS Skin Testing Calipers Vernier scale Calipers – scale in mm with a 0.05 mm minimum, outside jaws only. The calipers must have a retainer, contain a zero point error reading of less than 0.05 mm. Manufactured using thermally and dimensionally stable plastic. Jaws must be 12.7 mm (0.5 inches) in width with a 30 -35 mm depth and be capable of measuring up to 130 mm. Measurement scale must be etched in the plastic for long-term readability. A sample caliper meeting the above specifications can be supplied upon request There is no solicitation at this time. This request for capability information does not constitute a request for proposals; submission of any information in response to this market survey is purely voluntary; the government assumes no financial responsibility for any costs incurred.
