The solicitation and any resultant contract will be a stewardship project in accordance with Section 323 of Public Law 108-7 (16 U.S.C. 2104 Note, as revised February 28, 2003 to reflect sec. 323 of J.J. Res 2 as enrolled), the Consolidated Appropriations Resolution, 2003, amending Public Law 105-277 sec 347. This project is being advertised for full and open competition. This acquisition has been tailored to fit the Governments need for trading goods for services. The South Rim Biomass Stewardship Project is located on the Groveland Ranger District, Stanislaus National Forest. The project area of approximately 1,473 acres includes fuels reduction treatments units and biomass removal units. The fuels reduction treatments include a combination of felling, piling, lop and scatter, or mastication. Fuel reduction unit treatment options are based on slope gradients which may limit some equipment types depending on the slope. It is the contractor's responsibility to determine which combination of treatments will be needed to meet contract specifications. Biomass removal is expected to be performed using standard timber harvesting methods. The project includes removal of approximately 26,286 tons of CS - Non-Saw Timber. Project Location - The South Rim Biomass Contract is a USFS Fuels Reduction and Biomass removal project along California State Highway 120 leading to the North Entrance of Yosemite National Park. Contract Area is located within Tuolumne County on the Groveland Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest. The project is located in multiple sections within Townships 1 South, Range 18 and 19E; and Townships 2 South, Range 19E, Mount Diablo Baseline and Meridian. The solicitation package will be uploaded December 12, 2018. The date of award is expected to be within 60 days after the actual response date, which will be stated in the package and is subject to change with amendments to the solicitation. The contractors are encouraged to visit the site prior to the response date. A prebid meeting is scheduled to be held at the site on November 15th, 2018 and will meet at the Groveland Ranger District Office at 0900.
